[OpenDivX] Help with DivX on Linux???

Dear OpenDivX Mailing List,

I've been trying *really* hard to patch the old xmps-opendivx-plugin code to
use the latest divxcore code. A few missing files and much ado later, I
finally get divxcore to build and install correctly. When I test XMPS the
opendivx plugin crashes.

Okay, so there was a change to the DEC_PARAM interface. After changing the
plugin to cater for that I find that calls to decore die miserably. Then I
notice the fact that the Playa code first calls decore with DEC_MEM_REQS and
then allocates buffers (supposedly for decore). Stupidly, I read the "Codec
Core Interface.txt" file which lead me astray. It says nothing about having
to do the DEC_MEM_REQS jiggle first.

Anyway, after cutting and pasting the relevant code from Playa 0.5 to my new
plugin, I now find that my new code runs into an endless loop in log2ceil
(in mp4_header.c). The problem being that the variable i is a signed
integer and when arg is very large (which it is in my case, for some
reason), i*=2 causes i to become negative eventually, ending up in an
endless loop.

Perhaps I'm missing something obvious. I'm testing with the Tool_Sober.avi
sample file which I downloaded from the projectmayo web site. The file
plays correctly with Playa 0.5.

Has the AVI file format used to store the MP4 stream changed in any way at
all. I'm now beginning to suspect that XMPS's "AVI system" plugin isn't
getting the frame offsets right and is consequently passing junk to decore.

Help?
Any ideas?
Should I just give up?
Where's the original XMPS author?

Yours hopefully,
Stuart.
